The Silver Surfer Programme is an initiative by IB1 students of The Shri Ram School, Moulsari, to educate and empower grandparents to use technology and IT skills to enhance their lives. After 2 years online, grandparents were welcomed back to the Moulsari Campus and provided with answers to all their questions about how best to utilise the online world.
Our guests shared their heartfelt desires with the students: about regaining their independence by booking cabs, movie tickets, and even entire holidays for themselves and their families; about being able to interact and reconnect with old friends and distant family members using social media; about organising their bank work, documentation, IDs and more through digital filing and backups. Their wishes were our students command! The students also shared how to have fun with technology, showing the grandparents how to access music from every era through streaming services, how to watch films and television shows of their choosing, and how to creatively express themselves with photo and video editing applications.
An enriching session for all, as the students and grandparents closed the day with a promise to return next week, and to revise their new skills by practicing in the meantime!
